GREEN CARD SOLDIER – Historical fiction adventure novel

fletcher

Historical Fiction Adventure Novel

GREEN CARD SOLDIER

Bruce Zielsdorf’s book narrative treks across the globe during the Bosnian holocaust as a teenage soccer star escapes to America and joins the Army. While ultimately fiction, “Green Card Soldier” embodies the stories of 30,000-plus refugees currently dedicating their careers and lives to the United States’ military.

The saga is set amidst the civil war-ravaged Balkans of the early 1990s, the novel Green Card Soldier fuses fact with fiction to tell the story of Andro Babich, a naïve Bosnian teen soccer star who escapes to America where he earns refugee status, receives a “green card” and joins the U.S. Army – ultimately earning his citizenship and a new life.

From Goodreads:

Excellent Brain Candy! I ALWAYS read 3 or 4 books at a time- something hilarious (Jen Lancaster, David Sedaris,Tina Fey,Nora Ephron) a best- seller,a little non-fiction (I’ve been reading The Power of Now of six years, and I’m only on Chapter Four, but I really like it) and I have to slog through my book- club’s selection of the month.”

Unburying Hope” is so addicting that I put my other books aside and pretty much couldn’t do ANYTHING until I learned the fates of Eddie, the mysterious, tortured and smoking hot vet (not the kind who gives your dog his flea meds),Celeste, the hopeful, Motor City-loving grafitti artist, and her fabulous bestie Frank.

The characters are authentic, the plot line is riveting- but- believable, and the book is thought-provoking and just plain fun to read. I can’t really say much more, because of the spoiler alert thing, but trust me- it’s a great read. The day after I read this book I woke up wondering how Frank was doing …..and experienced that post-book disappointment when you remember you finished the book, and you are going to miss your favorite characters.

Loser’s Memorial is Apocalypse Now for a new generation. Two young men from different countries are driven to madness as they are dragged into the global war on terrorism. Author of:  Horror Novels, Historical Fiction, Poetry, and short stories.

After graduating from college in 1973, William worked in factories, taught high school English, and ran a successful house painting business. His real love, though, was writing, and he began freelancing in 1978.

He quickly learned that while only 10% of his general interest stories and poems got accepted by magazines, 80% of his horror writing found its way into print. Also, there was a particularly difficult California editor who inspired him. He kept rejecting story after story, always adding the tease, “This was very close to what I’m looking for.” Soon, Robertson had 20 stories written, that rejected by the California editor, were later published worldwide. One of these tales, “Wide Spot in the Road,” was translated into the Romanian language.

William’s work has now appeared in over 500 magazines, e-zines, and anthologies in the U.S., Canada, England, Scotland, William Robertson -Bucktailswilliam-robertson-SeasonIreland, Wales, Romania, Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia.

His other writing credits include eleven poetry collections, three audio books, twelve e-books, six volumes of short stories, a Viking novel, two French and Indian War novels, and nine historical fiction novels about the famous Civil War sharpshooters–the Bucktails.

 His horror collection includes:

LURKING IN PENNSYLVANIA, DARK HAUNTED DAY, TERROR TIME, and THE DEAD OF WINTER.  And the newest addition is SEASON OF DOOM.
