Others believe either religion or science incorporates the singular method of acquiring such knowledge. Bill SegoBill J. Sego served in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1990 through 1998 where he was a Hawk Missile Systems mechanic. From 1993 through 1997, Bill attended college at Ohio University and, after switching majors, later transferred to Hocking College.

In addition to majoring in Secondary History Education, Mr. Sego enrolled in a plethora of different philosophy courses, later developing a unique genre that combines elements of idealism, rationalism, panpsychism, transhumanism, and futurism, all culminating in an ontology he calls universal logic. He feels each has something to contribute to the “big picture,” and his book outlines that model in a way the general public is able to comprehend with little effort.

Bill is an established, part-time blogger on Hubpages.com where he hopes to do his part in making the world a better place for all of humankind.

Bill Sego was born in Columbus, Ohio in the fall of 1972. He and his wife, Candy, reside in Logan where they operate a small, local business. They are succeeded by 5 children, 2 grandchildren, 3 cats, 2 dogs, and a bunny.

How to Think Clearly: A Guide to Critical Thinking is an easy-to-understand, lively, and at times lighthearted introduction to the serious issues of learning how to think clearly and how to spot the difference between good and bad reasoning in the spoken and printed word. Dr. Doug Erlandson has written a book that is clear and straightforward enough that those who are interested in learning how to think clearly can read and understand it on their own. Drawing on many concrete examples of good and bad reasoning from the political and social realm as well as from day-to-day life, Erlandson explains the difference between an argument, an explanation, and a description, and then discusses the characteristics of good and bad deductive and inductive arguments. He follows this with three chapters devoted to spotting and avoiding various fallacies, including such common ones as ad hominem attacks, straw man arguments, red herrings, false cause arguments, equivocations, and the like.

In addition to the chapters on arguments and fallacies, How to Think Clearly devotes a chapter to explanations, in which Erlandson discusses the criteria for distinguishing between adequate and inadequate explanations. The chapter on probability, in addition to discussing the topic in general, emphasizes the relationship between probability and rational decision making in real life, an issue seldom discussed in books on critical thinking. The chapter entitled “Fun With Numbers” shows how easy it is to misinform and even lie with numbers, thereby providing the reader with tools to question claims that have an aura of objectivity because of the presence of quantified data.

The final chapter discusses ways in which loaded words and slanted descriptions can be used to create positive or negative attitudes toward individuals, institutions, and practices. The book closes with a plea for fairness and civility in discourse and challenges the reader to put the quest for truth above the desire to see one’s position triumph at all costs.

Once the lessons of the sixth stage are learned, the person graduates to the next stage, which is the fifth stage, materialism. Once we understand what it is to lose and lack, we logically, gain, in the stage that, now, has, in the world of material. Here though there are lessons to learn, and those lessons have to do with overcoming the false hoods of materialism. Once we understand the mystic lesson everything that glitters isn’t gold, you graduate to the fourth stage, which is theme by love.

The love of material at the previous cosmic class, becomes a love for self at the fourth stage on the evolutionary scale of the universe’s mystique. Here it is said creativity is formed, the way a women nurtures life within her. The way a women forms creation within, the fourth stage is mystically natured with that female affect in creating. And these creations that comes from the person while at this fourth level, are the inventions and talents the person learns at this stage of self study. Here, the merging of the conscious and the subconscious gives birth to a genius or talent, the individual gains while in this world of self love. In all the stages previously we were conscious, but lack the deeper part of the subconscious, which unites with the conscious at the fourth stage of love.

The book describes this stage like a womb, which nurtures and prepare life to come into existence, the same way the individual studies the nurturing union of the conscious and subconscious, which gives birth to the person’s talent or genius that’s presented to the world. As we get higher on the evolutionary scale of The Universe’s Mystique we become more and more perfect as the soul cosmically becomes more enlightened.

Once the love of self is finish, the love of knowledge becomes the next stage we spiritually graduate into. And as we know, knowledge is power, which is the following stage that comes after the stage of knowledge. After power we become liberated, where we’re free of all the hardships each stage possesses, the individual being omnipotent and god like.

For anyone seeking the meaning of life, this book is definitely a good guide. It defines the paths of life we all go through.
