Right-Hearted: Finding What’s Right With A Wrong Sided Heart, is a short memoir about my life-threatening heart conditions and an unforgettable girl. I was born with a broken heart. Literally. My heart is on the right side instead of the left. I was also born with 6 other random congenital heart defects, which have demanded that I undergo dangerous open-heart surgeries since my birth 16 years ago. After my last operation 3 years ago, at barely 14, I was sent away to live so that I would not kill myself. I spent 2 years learning to accept my heart conditions and learning to appreciate my beating heart. The blurry ambulance rides, countless surgeries, metal machines and two years in a Montana therapy school have all contributed to the unique teenager I am today.

I never knew anybody who completely understood my unique struggles until that night under the full moon.

Standing before the sky I had little idea my next two weeks would be overwhelmed with wild love, lust, confusion, tears and a beautiful girl. She and I would share the stories of our hearts…our right-sided hearts. Right-Hearted: Finding What’s Right With A Wrong Sided Heart is the story of two lustful teenagers who together confront their life-threatening conditions and learn to embrace their broken hearts.

Imagine a young American couple embarking on a two-year adventure in Tehran, Iran…….. The husband is a highly intelligent, workaholic computer geek with little time or attention for his bride. She is bored with her marriage and looking for something to ignite her passion, to make her feel desirable and loved. She finds an opportunity with a handsome Iranian who crosses her path shortly after their arrival in Tehran. Rather than question the potentially devastating consequences of acting out her fantasy, she charges forward with a tenacity that can only come from her young and foolish heart and not her head. The web of lies that she ultimately weaves entangles everyone involved-her, the husband, the lover, and most sadly, her young son. It is a journey of betrayal, discovery, and forgiveness. What felt like a beautiful love story turned into a tormenting nightmare. From the threat of criminal court, to an attempt at kidnapping her son, she demonstrates that one can survive even after making the worst mistake of your life. I lived this story almost forty years ago. It was the most challenging and difficult time of my life. In the end, I realized my choice was to either fall apart or start laughing at the absurdity of it all……

“Ok look, I am not going to lie, I AM going to sell you my story. And I AM 100% sure you are going to buy it.
How can I be so sure? Well, I am an addict. As an addict I have lost everything I ever had.
What does a man do when he lost everything? When it is life or dead?
He does ANYTHING to get it all back. The most vile, disgusting, obscene, illegal, shameful things to get back what he lost!

My name is Justin Rylands and I am an addict. I am addicted to money.
I am going to tell you how I conquered the world. And I am going to tell you how I lost it all.
Join me on the inside and let me tell you the crazy story that is my life. I would say I am sorry for the explicit scene I will describe but to be honest, I am not sorry at all. Those were the best times of my life.

Oh, btw, I have been arrested so many times that I got to know this cop better then my wife. With the money I used to buy drugs I could have bought a small island. I even died once. Yes, there is a white light.”

A Message from the Author:

Jenny Wren

My name is Jenny Wren. I was born in 1949 at Big Bell a small mining town in central Western Australia which is now a ghost town. I was the second oldest of four children. Our early family life was both poor in money but rich in family. I was married at sixteen and a mother at seventeen. I have three children, five grand children and one great grandchild and am now married for a second time.

My life experiences have led me on many paths, notably into the sex industry. This book contains nearly all of my ups and downs in a packed life to date. I am now traveling around Australia with my husband enjoying the many things this great country has to offer, which is a far cry from days gone by. Names have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty.

The Last Governor Diaries

by John W Heffernan

The Last Governor Diaries is a virtual record of the author’s 30 year journey through the NSW Department of Corrective Services and the many remarkable characters he meets along the way. Frightening yet, at times, humorous The Last Governor Diaries provides a unique insight into the closed and unseen world that exists behind the imposing high walls of the state’s prisons. This is a story of some very dangerous prisoners and a few very ordinary correctional officers. In many respects, this a reminder that not all those charged with law enforcement are necessarily saints while not all those who break the law are complete sinners.

About the Author: John W Heffernan

John Heffernan served for 30 years in the New South Wales Department of Corrective Services attaining the rank of Superintendent. For the last 10 years of his service he was a prison governor and appointed to manage a number of NSW correctional centres. During his period of service he worked in all areas of the department including Prison Industries and Prison Operations. He has an Associate Diploma in Criminal Justice (Charles Sturt University) and was awarded the National Medal for Service, the 20 Year Service Medal and the 25 Year and 30 Year Service Clasps. He has previously written The Last Governor (2012) BookPal Publishing. www.thelastgovernor.com.au.

An Inspirational Memoir

Mario Guerra’s life has been a complex and colorful one. His earliest recollection of life was watching his mother chase a kangaroo out of her kitchen. Another is asking about his father, why he was not with them.

At the age of six, he went with his mother by train to see his father at the Kenmore Mental Asylum. There was a war going on, with Italy the enemy, and his mother explained that it was not mental illness that had destroyed their family but the scourges of war. His two uncles and his grandfather were also put away in mental asylums – all four incarcerated in tragic ways. In his early twenties, the author became determined to do something about his father and his uncles.

The author’s journey has taken him into becoming a very fast box maker, a singer and at times, an actor. The author was good at boxing and rugby, and because of racism, he became known as a street fighter. He worked as a railway fireman, and was called up to do army service. Later, he became a fruit farmer for seven years before finally moving up to the challenge of road transport and a brick agency. He became a political activist for a short time, a boxing trainer and boxing promoter.
