Avis Blackthorn Is Not an Evil Wizard!
(The Wizard School Series, Teen Fantasy and Magic, Book 1)

The children’s, teen and young adult fantasy magic bestseller about a not very evil Wizard…

Avis Blackthorn’s family is the most evil family in all of the Seven Magical Kingdoms. The problem? Avis isn’t evil. Not one bit.

His magical wizarding family will do anything to make Avis’s life a misery. Even the horses that pull the carriages don’t like him.

But he has a way out at last… “Hailing Hall School for Wizards,” a sanctuary, a place for good wizards, where he can make some nice, normal friends, learn magic and live a normal life, finally escaping the notoriety of the Blackthorn name… or so he thinks.

That’s where the real adventure—humorous, haunting and mysterious—begins.

Come along with Avis as he tries desperately to prove he isn’t evil like his family. And join tall, thin, be-speckled Robin and accident prone Hunter, Avis’s friends from the Outside—the same world as yours in fact—as they discover Wizard’s Spider Soap, the wizarding sport of Riptide and even the ghosts that do the laundry!

Of course, in a magic school full of teenage wizards there will always be drama. But stranger things are brewing and Avis finds himself at the centre of it. After spotting Malakai—the most evil Sorcerer around and his parents employer—coming into the school in the dead of night. Avis wonders why? And why will no one believe him?

The mysterious, beautiful Tina might know why. When Avis and Robin spot her creeping round in the dead of night, she tells them about the quest and a thrilling mystery unfolds.

Yet, everything goes horribly wrong for Avis. After being accused of something terrible, he is ostracized from his friends and lives high up in the clock tower. Everyone thinks he’s evil, just like his family…

Avis must uncover the biggest of quests with the help of Tina and Robin and finally prove once and for all, that he is a good wizard…

Avis has to make a big choice to make — his friends, or his family, and the choice… might just kill him.

American Magic: The Book of Light

~~~
American Magic: The Book of Light
Help Support this Magical Project…..
14 year old Simon Warner sets out to rescue his kidnapped father and is violently pulled into the world of monsters and magic.
AMERICAN MAGIC is a young adult fantasy novel and the first ebook of a planned series. I have been working on the first book for the past two years. I think every writer at some point wants to examine the journey into adulthood, and AMERICAN MAGIC is the end result.
AMERICAN MAGIC gets into the teenage psyche–their hopes, fears, dreams, and most of all, the big questions–identity, finding role models, and learning that their actions affects others. All of this, while still being a great adventure story with a wide cast of fun, complex characters, and set in an exciting, fast-paced world.
AMERICAN MAGIC will be a series of six books. The subtitle “The Book of Light” refers to the book itself, rather than some mystical object in the story that the heroes must find in order to save the day. This Kickstarter campaign is to help finalize the first book and bring it into the world with the level of polish it deserves.
About the Author: Clay Held
I started writing in third grade, which was just over twenty years ago. I’ve done comics, short stories, poetry, and now I’ve reached into novels. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, where I studied under some of the absolute best teachers a developing writer could have.
I like paranormal stuff–have for as long as I can remember–so it only felt natural when I became serious about writing that I gravitated toward paranormal adventures. They’re fun to do (magic? fantastic creatures? IN!), and I end up telling very grounded, very human stories, just set against a supernatural backdrop. It’s really the best of both worlds for me.
Michael Hawk Adventures:
Curse of the Last Moondragon
YA Fantasy Adventure
by Robert Clark Selby
Literary Escapade for All Ages
Fusing the magic of Harry Potter with the heart-stopping adventure of Indiana Jones, writer Robert Clark Selby provides a foray into the unexpected, with his new series of young adult fantasy adventure books.
Aimed at young adults, the ‘Michael Hawk Adventure’ series lifts readers into a world very different to their own. The first installment, ‘Curse of the Last Moondragon’, is the perfect introduction to the life of Michael Hawk and his family of circus friends.
Synopsis:
Suddenly alone and hunted by shadowy henchmen he never knew existed, Michael Hawk has no choice but to run. But where? Why? He’s only twelve. His only worthy possession is an autographed baseball cap. He’s never even been in a town populated by more than 500 people. But somebody wants him, and they’re willing to leave a trail of dead bodies to capture him.
After eluding the dark hunters for months, Michael unwittingly plunges into a daring rescue of a magical, flying circus from a ravenous monster. For the first time in his life, Michael has a real home and a family. But can he keep them? Danger and disaster seem to follow him wherever he lands.
Hailed as a hero and then cast out as a traitor, Michael begins a quest to prove his honor and save the circus owner, Lotus Moondragon, from an insidious curse and an ancient witch named Grimcoven bent on revenge. From an orphanage that would make Charles Dickens squirm to the badlands of South Dakota to a shrouded island in the South China Sea, Michael must battle a mysterious cult, a maniacal zombie pirate, mystical creatures, and his own unknown past to free Lotus from her horrific fate.
“When I was a child, I had one ambition. I wanted to be an old person with an amazing collection of stories to tell. I remember thinking to myself that it didn’t really matter what I did with my life as long as there was a good story involved.
It is this driving ambition to tell a good story that leads me to do and try unusual things. In no particular order: I’ve worked with street kids, taught mountain boarding, and helped run a sailing camp from the deck of an old wooden sailboat. I’ve busked (and made good money) and lived overseas.
I harvested vineyards by hand in Germany and backpacked with a guitar around Europe. Somewhere in that jumble, I also attended Bible College and received a diploma in Biblical Studies. Not really sure what I will use it for, but it does tend to spice up conversation.
I fell in love three years ago. It was the first time and it was real. I had decided that I would rather be an old lady with a cat (yeck!) than settle for anything less than a perfect love that fills me. I wanted the love that you see in movies and read about in books, nothing less.
I found him. My husband Jason is the only man in this world big enough to contain everything that I am without stifling me. He is also the one who pushed me into a writing career – something that I will be eternally grateful for.
Now I live on Vancouver Island. For the first time in my adult life I have remained in one place for more than a year. I love the quiet pace of life and I savor the simple pleasures of good friends, long walks, fresh baked bread and hot cups of tea. And of course, writing.
And I can’t help but marvel at how long it took me to re-learn what I had figured out in third grade: that the thing I want to do most in life, is tell a good story.”
