Kayt C. Peck lived the ranch life as a child and young adult and knows the smell, feel, hardships and gratifications of life on the range. The hard-work and determination needed to survive on a Texas farm and ranch helped her as she began a life-long career as a writer that has included working as a journalist, a public-affairs officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve, and as a grants expert writing applications raising over $30 million for worthy domestic and even international organizations. She has published two other novels, one biography, and written a number of plays, including being a two

time awardee in the Rocky Mountain Voices play competition. She has authored and published numerous articles, short-stories and poems. Today, she lives quietly in her cabin home in the mountains of northeastern New Mexico.

The Ladies Room

A dream is housed in the dusty, unused storage room above the Tickled Texan, one of Amber, Texas’ two gay bars. Journalist April Sims serves as the reluctant leader in making that dream a reality. Under her guidance an eclectic group of women build a safe place in a community where being lesbian can be dangerous and difficult.

April meets Sophia Mendez, a local attorney, as she seeks legal guidance for members of the group. In meeting with the women of the Ladies’ Room, Sophia finds herself dealing with personal as well as professional issues…

GOOD WATER

The dry plains drew Judy Proctor like a bear to her den…or a moth to the flame. Ranching was her life. The sweat as she branded or “doctored” cattle…the howl of a coyote in the quiet, night air … half-frozen fingers as she cut the wire to loosen hay bales for hungry cattle scratching for survival in snow-covered land…all of the everyday existence on the ranch was her life. …..It was where she belonged…….It was a lonely life.

She had tried to leave the ranch to join the “normal” existence of a talented young woman in the city, but it had never been home. When her parents were killed……….

The Kiva and The Mosque

kivaAnswers rarely come from expected sources. The need for answers to save a troubled humanity forces Kidwell Brown and Aisha Sudda, two total strangers, into roles they never could have anticipated. Kidwell and her life-partner, Anna Montoya, live a quiet life in their mountain home until the day Kidwell is drawn to visit the Kiva cave at Bandelier National Monument. Hundreds of miles away, Aisha Sudda Fletcher lives another quiet existence, along with her husband, Greg, until the day she is drawn to visit a garden beside a vandalized mosque.

On that day, both Kidwell and Aisha are chosen. These humble women soon learn that the time of prophets has not yet passed. Their mystical guides direct the women to “find their allies,” and so the lives of Kidwell, Aisha, Anna and Greg are forever intertwined. They will face victory and exile, mystery and certainty. In the end they may well change humanity.

In an instant, Adam’s life has crumbled.
The trauma keeps him awake at night, the pressure squeezing against his lungs, his soul. His life continues on a downward spiral until he’s entirely broken. And he doesn’t know how he’ll ever be whole again.

Until he meets Jasmine.

He finds her while working as an official for the DGSE—France’s external intelligence agency—in Beirut, Lebanon. Their hearts are jolted back to life at the sight of one another, but their erotic affair is a dangerous one.
Jasmine is a woman he cannot have and was never meant to be with.
Her beauty captivates him; her love overwhelms him.
Though Jasmine suffers from her own trauma and feels constricted within the confines of her societal role, she too finds temporary healing and freedom in her wild but secret romance with Adam.

But for how long can they keep their dangerous love a secret?

Desire & Prejudice is a sexy love story with a spy thriller twist by one of the most exciting new authors of 2014. Through the story of Adam and Jasmine, first-time author Jean-Louis McMillan uses the classic tale to explore the modern art of lovemaking and the power of redemption.

Does love have the power to overcome prejudice?
Can it heal a wounded soul?

A realistic, believable story that readers haven’t heard before. Desire & Prejudice is about the healing power of true lovemaking and the damning power of ethnic bias.  The poetic letter takes the reader into the minds of two lovers desperately wanting one another. The erotic descriptions are vivid enough, but scarcely the right quantity of description to know precisely what is going on.

***Author’s Note: This is a contemporary love story with sexual content and strong language. Recommended reading age: 18+

“I never knew I had an arm until this guy called out, “Hey you want to try and get a ball in the hole, sonny?” I was only nine, but mom said, “come on, let’s play.” This Carney guy with no teeth and a fuming cigarette hands me five blue rubber balls and says if I throw three in the hole we win a prize. He’s grinning, because he took mom’s five bucks and figures a sucker is born every minute. That really got me, because we didn’t have any money after Fernando took off, and he only comes back to beat up mom and steal our money. So I really wanted to get mom back something, you know, for her five bucks.”

A boy with a golden arm but no money for lessons. A mother who wants to give her son his dream before she dies. A broken down World Series pitcher who cannot go on after the death of his wife. These are the elements of The Pitcher. A story of a man at the end of his dream and a boy whose dream is to make his high school baseball team. In the tradition of The Natural and The Field of Dreams, this is a mythic story about how a man and a boy meet in the crossroads of their life and find a way to go on. You will laugh and you will cry as The Pitcher and Ricky prepare for the ultimate try out of life.

Recently serialised at Buddy Guy’s Blues and Music News.com…

‘a touching and soulful story’ Jed Tales, Amazon reviewer

‘sharply observed, witty, and often hilarious’ Jimston, Amazon reviewer

They woke up this morning…

Famous Texas bluesman Coyote Jack has agreed to join The Bluebirds for a one night gig at their UK home venue. Freshly dumped by his fiancee, singer Charlie French hopes that this is the start of bigger and better things for him and his friends. Alas, the band’s blues have only just begun. A series of misfortunes threatens to clip the Bluebirds’ wings, and as their eccentric guest staggers from one embarrassing calamity to the next Coyote Jack’s credibility is called into question.

Have mercy! – it’s not the Texan’s fault. The airline lost his damn guitar, the Stetson wouldn’t fit in his luggage, these middle class white kids don’t know diddly about the blues…it’s no wonder old Coyote’s flustered. Right?

There’s another problem. Charlie’s band – and therefore Charlie’s world – is about to fall apart. Guitarist and old friend Rupert Rathwell-Stubbs is secretly plotting his escape from the Bluebirds, his place among top London act The Molten Few assured if he can pull off one final betrayal of his friends. The demands of motherhood have been proving too much for bass player Anne Marie Pinto, and now the discovery of her husband’s infidelity is about to knock her flat. Unaware of his role in Rupert’s devious designs drummer Oz Watkins awakes smitten with his latest conquest, achingly aware that she’s fallen for the Rock God he no longer wants to be.

The blues, the real blues, are about to hit the Bluebirds. Hard.

Spanning a single Saturday afternoon and culminating in a riotous musical climax the novel traces the disintegration of the band and the gradual unmasking – and redemption – of the clownish Coyote Jack. Forced to face their respective truths the Bluebirds find themselves struggling to make sense of their lives, their loyalties and the blues itself as the clock ticks down and a full house gathers…
