Meet the Author: Charm Baker

Charm Baker is the owner and webmaster of Authorsview.org but she is also a newly published author, having finally released her first sci-fi novel, “Experimenting With Murder.” Charm is new to the self-publishing world, when it comes to fiction-writing however, she has been getting paid to write non-fiction articles online for several years. In a recent interview, Charm was asked: When did she know that she wanted to be a serious writer. Here is her response:

“I went back to school after my only child was school age and he decided I was no longer his best friend. I had always wanted to be a teacher, so I took classes at my local community college and began pursuing a career in child development. One semester, my speech class instructor encouraged me to enter a writing contest about Martin Luther King. My speech won second place, although I know my “writing” was actually better than the guy that took first place. I didn’t care because I realized that this was a “speech” contest and he had a much better oral delivery oral I did. I simply smiled and happily accepted the $100 and 2nd place certificate. It was then that I knew I wanted to be a serious writer.”

Vengeance in the North Woods started as an assignment in my creative writing class. I let my mind wander and it landed on my wolf hybrid, Thor, and his St. Bernard/German Shepherd mate, Athena. I let the story unfold in its own way, did lots of editing and turned it in. After my teacher and some friends read it, they all encouraged me to pursue it in novel form. I spent about two years putting it together and getting it published. I loved every last moment I spent writing it.

Randy is a native born Northern Vermonter who loves the outdoors and all the tales hidden within it. He loves writing wolf stories, but also enjoys slice of life and a little horror. In short, he revels in spinning a good yarn. He and his wife keep seven dogs. Thor is their wolf hybrid and the inspiration for “Vengeance in the North Woods”. Tracy was fascinated with the paranormal when she was very young. She always felt like someone was around her even when she was alone. Those experiences inspired her to write a paranormal book where a teenager can see and hear ghosts and actually makes friends with one.

Tracy loved to write short stories in school and had always wanted to be a writer. But raising children and working jobs got in the way of indulging her passion of writing. Then she realized her children had grown up into teenagers and they didn’t need her as much. She started toying with the idea of writing once again. So setting aside 5 to 10 minutes per day to write at least one page she thought she could end up with a book a year.
